I've been hearing a lot about Drexel's campus and the fact that it isn't that great. I personally haven't visited Drexel yet, so I am pretty curious. Can anyone reassure me that the campus isn't really that bad?

Hey I'm a Drexel Senior and I really enjoy campus. I like the fact that we are an open campus that flows in and out of the city streets. And being in Philly is awesome.
Since you haven't visited campus yet I would recommend a personal campus tour with a current Drexel student. You can set one up by calling 1-800-2-Drexel. You can schedule a tour during the week and on Saturdays. That is probably the best way to see our campus and get a student's perspective as well.
In the meantime you can check out some recent developments to our campus and what we're building in the years to come at this link:

Hope this helps!

Don't listen to any reviews or what people from other colleges say. Drexel is an incredible school. People try to associate the bad parts of the city with Drexel which is really far off. Drexel is also making a lot of huge improvements to campus addidng a couple new, and very nice buildings, and making a lot of new big grassy areas as part of their major renovations

well, i think they say that because there are rumours that a few years ago (or maybe recently) it was voted one of the ugliest campus's. I think this is because there have been plenty of construction the last few years (engineering building for example). But, if you get into the campus and not the edges, it's actually very nice.

Well here's the dillio. It's in the middle of Philadelphia, which is occasionally called "Filthadelphia" so you've just got to take into account the darker side to city life, it won't be as clean as suburbs. Drexel also isn't like a bajillion years old, so they don't have as much quaint old-school looking brick-and-ivy buildings.
However, they have some cool modern looking ones. There's this building that's basically this big pointy glass triangle, and it's neat to look at. They're expanding campus all the time, too. There's word stirring about this biowall thing which sounds really awesome. Drexel has tennis courts, volleyball nets, grassy knolls to lounge around on same as any other campus. It's just not all interconnected as a school would be if it was in the middle of nowhere. They kind of claim the city as if it were actually part of campus as there's tons to do if you just look around in the city.
Bottom line, I've been to Drexel a bunch, and there are some streets you learn not to walk down in the city at night (but that's the CITY, Drexel's actual campus is pretty safe. They're getting a police force of their own too I heard.) and there might be a building you wish was more ornate or interesting but they do have really cool looking buildings as well and there definitely are places to just lounge about under a tree. You'll be just fine.

i'm not a student yet, but i've been lurking around drexel, and philly in general, for a while.
if you are looking for exclusive and secluded, it might not be the place for you
but if you like city life, you'll love it.

As a current student, I really don't mind the campus... I knew when I signed up that it was a city campus, and so you're not going to get as much grass and open space as other schools, but there are so so so many more resources available to you. Philadelphia has so much to offer.
Besides, I think the Korman Quad has turned out quite nice, and they're creating a new park area up near the dorms.
