Fencers

Postby zackfernandes on Wed Jun 25, 2008 10:07 pm

Hi there,

I'm fairly new to the area (been living here for 3 years), and was wondering if anyone here fences or knows of a good Salle D'Armes in the Philadelphia area?

I've run a few google searches, and all I can find is the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia. If anyone can vouch for this place, that would be cool.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

P.S. I've fenced foil for about 3 years.

I had been interested in trying this for a while but never got my act together. The academy is right off of Drexel's campus (about 3 blocks away).

However, if there is one thing I've learned about Drexel...it's that it is really rediculously easy to start your own club or organization (I've started 2 since I've been here!) All you need are 10 signatures of people who are interested and a constitution, and you become officially recognized by Drexel. The benefits of this are that you can actually get funding to put towards competitions, practice, equipment, etc. If this sound interesting to you let me know, you've already got one signature.

That sounds awesome! Yeah, i'll be in touch when school starts. Chelsea, if you're interested as well, I guess that makes 2 additional signatures.

Brilliant, thanks for the help mate.

I'm all about it, but you will have to teach me how.

I would also be interested in learning and would sign a petition for a club. Let me know!
