placement tests

Postby dvnsn12 on Sun Jun 22, 2008 11:03 pm

Hey everyone, I have a few questions about the placement tests:

How are the placement tests like?
Should I study for them?
How long are they?
How many tests would I have to take?

Typically there are 2 placement tests that are taken...one for math and one for Chem. However, if you have AP credits in either of those areas, you may test out of them.

The tests themselves test basic understanding of the material and are under an hour each.

Hey,

Don't know if you can actually see your scores but when your specific college's advisers register you for classes you'll know if you tested out of let's say Math 101 or Engl 101.

Hope this helps!

I have a question about placement tests as well. I took all of my placement tests and then I got an email about my math placement test. It said that I was going to be placed in precalc but in mid August there was going to be a retake and it suggested to take a 6week online help thing for 22$. I thought there were no retakes first of all and do I have to do the six week online math help thing or no? Just wondering if anyone knew anything, thanks.

If it is suggested then you will not *have* to take it, however if its that cheap I would definitely recommend taking it. They will probably lay out exactly what is going to be on the retake placement exam.

Even if you do not get into calc 121 your first term, dont worry about it. I had Precalc the first term and It was more helpful than anything, I probably would have failed calc 121 if not for it.

Precalc is a great way to brush up on everything you learned in high school.
So dont worry if you get into it, it won't put you behind in your classes.
