This could work well

If everyone is into a little of the same thing and things that are a little different, theoretically it would be a golden opportunity. Think about it, no one in the world only likes one type of music, every one has a favorite, and then likes a little bit of another type. If you have a band that has a specialty and has members that all have a different specialty, then that band would be able to play some of everything, and do well.

in case anyone was wondering, i'm lookin to start a more technical indie/alternative/rock band devoid of power chords more influenced by like hendrix and dave matthews band and pearl jam and such, but just influenced by them i wanna create something completely new as hard as that's gonna be these days. no hard rock heavy metal heavy distortion pounding stuff though, but no offense if youre into that

I didn't see this thread until i posted in the other musicians one so i'll just copy what i wrote and just add a bit:

I play drums in all sorts of styles really - I was in a hard rock band for two years but we broke up when the other guys went to college (i was a year behind). Now i jam with a few kids just for fun but we don't play much... that's more funk, blues, and jazz driven. I just like to play.

I have a Tama Rockstar Custom Fusion Drum Kit, Pearl Hardware, DW 7000 double bass pedal. Cymbals i play Zildjian 14'' A Custom Mastersound Hi Hats, Zildjian A Custom 17'' Crash, Zildjian 16'' K Custom Dark Crash, and a Paiste 20'' Signature Dry Dark Ride. Heads are all Evans: EMAD1's on the bass drum, G2 Coated snare, and EC2's on toms...

The problem with drums is their volume and the amount of space they take up so they'll have to stay at home... I'll get a practice pad setup but it won't be the same...

I don't want to make any promises either since it will be freshman year and i'll be adapting as it is... I'd prefer not to get tangled up in a band that early but feel free to keep my contact info or whatever if you want in case you have an opening later and I'm up for it?

sounds good to me, I may not even be able to find a complete band, or I may get drafted into one, I'm just kind of putting the idea out there for now.

well...i play the electric guitar...I have an Electric Blue ESP LTD H-51, a LX20R Laney Amp and a Digitech RP90 Special Effects Processor. I've been playing the acoustic for about 2 years now and i got my electric 6 months ago.

The music i listen to mostly involves classic rock like Pink Floyd, Led Zep and Hendrix and heavy metal like Black Sabbath, Metallica and Iron Maiden....not really a big fan of death metal but i do like Children of Bodom.
