Future Dragons Message Board

D3—Dinner and Discussion at Drexel—is an interdisciplinary series aimed at bringing together students and faculty members from different fields of study. This program is unique in that it allows members of the Drexel community to share a common intellectual experience outside a classroom setting and then discuss their ideas over dinner. Below you will find descriptions of previous D3 events as well as a description of “The Launch of D3” in ASK, the CoAS journal.

Purpose of D3

Dean Donna Murasko invites College of Arts and Sciences faculty to imagine creative ways to bring their interests together with the themes of courses offered University-wide. D3 events are designed to place students, teachers, and outside experts into conversation, through a panel discussion, film screening, performance, or other format.

The event should bring students and faculty of at least three courses offered in the current term together, to discuss in a relaxed setting a topic that relates to all the participating courses. Of special interest will be D3 proposals related to current events—topics that will take the discussion out of narrow disciplinary boxes and out into the larger world of ideas.

Submission

Below you will find the application form for a D3 proposal. The proposals will be reviewed by the D3 Committee, which hopes to report back within two weeks. The aim is to sponsor up to three D3 events per term (excluding the summer term).


Personally I've been to a few of the D3 events in my time here as a Drexel student and they are usually pretty interesting. I am a communications major and one of my favorites dealt with media coverage of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in the last decade.
